HARSH INTEROGATION OR TORTURE?
Is it immoral or inhumane to subject a known terrorist to cold, wet conditions for a few hours to gain information that might save the lives of our fellow Americans? How about keeping him awake for extended periods of time? How about putting a spider in his cell? Maybe making him stand up all day? HAVE WE LOST OUR MINDS? Uncomfortable, sure. Torture, no. BOOT CAMP IS TOUGHER THAN THIS!!! Torture is breaking bones, chopping off heads. See the difference? (I might draw the line at subjecting them to loud rap music for extended periods of time. That really is torture.)
For all you Kool Aid drinkers out there, think about it this way. If someone were to kidnap your child, and you could find them and save their life by pouring a little water up the kidnapper’s nose (waterboarding), would you let your child die instead? I know which I would choose.
Be honest. This is about the Left trying to discredit George Bush, even if it means putting our country at greater risk. Makes you proud to be a Democrat, doesn’t it?

Well, I find it interesting that the description of the U.S.’ interrogation techniques here is perhaps the most harmless one I’ve read. Certainly the CIA memos provide a more graphic detail of what the interrogators got away with in Abu Ghraib, including the tactic of extraordinary rendition so the US can “wash its hands off” what it fully knows are treaty violations. Please, what the U.S. did is not as harmless as “pouring a little water” up the nose of these suspects.
George Bush represents everything the world hates about America-sanctimonious, hypocrite, insular, and a bully. As a non-American, I think you should be grateful that Obama is your president. Maybe all the hatred (justified or unjustified) against Americans will finally stop with him at the helm.
Protecting the citizens of this country from foreign threats is one of our President’s most important responsibilities. Some of the decisions necessary to accomplish this are tough to make. The people responsible for 9/11 still want to kill us. Being “nice” to them isn’t going to change that. For them to die in the act of killing you is considered an honor. How many virgins await them? I forget. That makes these folks a little difficult to reason with, wouldn’t you agree? I believe that George Bush did what he thought was necessary to protect us from another attack (which he did, thank you), without regard to his own popularity.
Oh, you suggest that Obama will make the U.S. more liked around the world? We are spending ourselves into oblivion here, so we will see how much the world likes us when all of the billions of $$$$$ in foreign aid run out. And where will Canadians go for health care if we adopt a government run system like theirs? I’m not sure even Americans will like America when he gets done with it.
Also, you have failed to answer my question from yesterday: Yes or no, would you allow waterboarding the kidnapper if it might save your childs life, or do nothing and let them die?? Hurry! Nice isn’t working, so which do you choose? (I know you are worried about the kidnapper, but he will be just fine in a couple of minutes either way.)
BTW, what is your country of origin? It might help me to understand your personal hostility towards America. If you lived here, maybe you would feel differently. Or perhaps you already live here. If that is the case, I would ask “Why”.
Adrienne;
I am a 70 yr old vet, that also has an opinion. I don’t know where you are from, but your freedom probably was saved by an American Veteran, possibly even Pres Bush, for sure his dad. We right wing Christian, Bible reading, life preserving Red State Conservatives, care one heck of a lot more for your freedoms and negative views of life, than the liberal socialist complainers that always insist that someone else (usually conservatives) save their rear ends from those that would as soon cut off a finger or hand or head, real (torture)(read about the torture our Veterans went through to win every war we got sucked into to save some foreign country). I really believe that the secular leadership that we have now will get caught up in the hate and false hope they preach, that once again the Conservative Red States will have to try to fix the mess being created for our future generations. Never underestimate the will of we redneck, gun toten, Bible Believers, with the Good Lord to guide us, will make it right again. Jim <
Did a little study on Jap naval personnel picking up downed American pilots in WW2, after interrogation, they would tie weights to the legs of the American pilots, and throw them overboard. Waterboarding—-Huh get real liberals. Jim <
